Abstract

In this presentation, we demonstrate the application of a synergistic framework to airborne radar-lidar measurements to retrieve ice crystal size and concentration. In anticipation of the future EarthCARE mission, our focus is on the comparison of retrieved ice cloud microphysics from coordinated airborne and satellite measurements. On the basis of this study, the influence of sensor performance on retrieved ice cloud products is compared and discussed with respect to future spaceborne missions.
