"Open access to scientific publications must now become an essential practice, whether through native open access publication or by depositing them in a public open archive like HAL. The Loi pour une République numérique (Law for a Digital Republic) ( allows for depositing the final accepted version of a manuscript in an open archive, subject to the agreement of any co-authors, six months after publication for sciences, engineering, and medicine, and twelve months for humanities and social sciences.
